Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia is gearing up for the launch of its Lumia range of smartphones with a social media marketing initiative, according to an article published by New Media Age.

The company will mark the release of the range with a 4D light show extravaganza.

Projected on to Millbank Tower in London, the show will be simultaneously broadcast on Nokia’s Facebook page – a move that John Nichols, UK marketing director for Nokia, has said will allow users across the globe to watch the event.

Taking place on November 28, the event will see 800 tiles – representing those used on Windows Phones – as well as a butterfly – measuring around 400 ft – projected on to the tower.

Canadian DJ, Deadmau5 will also provide a 30 minute set to accompany the light show – which is thought to be the biggest event to date in the company’s latest marketing campaign.

Vice president of marketing creation at Nokia, Steve Overman, said that social media would play a key role in all of Nokia’s future product and campaign plans.
