Smart has become one of the first brands to take advantage of Facebook’s new timeline layout, according to an article published by New Media Age.

Owned by Mercedes-Benz, the car manufacturer has launched a new application for the social networking site that will allow users to create their own picture or banner – in the form of a mosaic composed of a users Facebook photos – to use on the new profiles.

The launch of the app forms part of a social media marketing campaign to promote the Smart Brabus service – which allows Smart owners to customise their car’s appearance.

Speaking about the launch of the app, marketing director at Mercedes-Benz UK, David George, said: “We recognise the importance of social media as a tool to engage with the smart audience and fans.

“It’s great to be able to reflect Smart’s customisation service with a Facebook app that allows people to put their individual stamp on their profile.”
