Yahoo! has unveiled a new feature designed to offer users more sponsored ads relating to their queries.

More Sponsors is a pilot program intended to expand the company’s search engine marketing services by adding the extra ad links to the bottom of results pages.

When one of these links is clicked, users are taken to a page featuring just sponsored search ads related to their original query, giving consumers the chance to browse a range of product deals and discounts.

The service will initially launch on Yahoo! Search, but the company aims to roll it out across its network of sites wherever sponsored ads are displayed.

Mr Pann added that More Sponsors ads, which are currently text-based, could eventually evolve to include images, logos and graphics.

"We’re looking at ways to test new formats and treatments of search ads to improve the consumer experience," he said.

Earlier this week, Yahoo! reported total revenues of $1,597 million (£1,037 million) for the first quarter of 2010, up one per cent year-on-year.
