The top ten most annoying things about online advertising campaigns have been listed by PC World.com – which internet marketers may be interested to hear.

The website listed a number of things that are more likely to turn off prospective customers than convert advertising into sales.

Advertisements (ads) that were noisy were highlighted first as the magazine claimed that often consumers can feel as if their PCs audio has been hijacked.

Floating ads with difficult to locate close buttons, expanding ads that takeover the page and malware infected ads were also targeted, as the site laid out a number of things that those looking to start an online campaign may wish to avoid.

However, it was noted that although theses ads can sometimes be frustrating consumers should remember that in their absence it would be unlikely that web content would be free.

"Without them, we’d all have to pay a nickel every time we wanted to watch a YouTube video of people riding down escalators in shopping carts," the article stated.
