Small businesses and entrepreneurs looking to improve their websites should definitely seek help from a professional, according to one expert.

A spokesman for the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), said today that seeking professional help on search engine optimisation (SEO) was "definitely advisable"

Jack Wallington, programmes manager for the IAB, said: "Even if someone knows a lot about search engine marketing, it is unlikely they will know everything."

He added that arranging to speak to an expert in the field can prove useful and that free online advice and guides to SEO are not always reliable.

"There is a lot of free advice available on the internet and it is not always possible to know what is correct and what isn’t," he concluded.

The Internet Advertising Bureau is a trade association which works with its members to offer advice on building brands through online marketing.
