Nielsen//Netratings has announced the latest development in its metrics services that will give online advertisers a new way of measuring their audiences.

According to internet marketing news website BizReport the company has revealed two new services, Nielsen Online and Nielsen Mobile, which will both include platforms for Nielsen//Netratings as well as Buzzmetrics.

It is hoped that these two new services will offer online marketers a more accurate way of measuring and analysing audience numbers and trends.

The website reports that monitoring internet and mobile advertising space is becoming increasingly important to advertisers and being able to keep track of the effectiveness of existing campaigns is essential to the sector.

David Calhoun, chief executive officer of Nielsen said: "With this new structure, we are prepared to focus with even more intensity on delivering the complete picture of consumer activity and behavior in the digital space and across all media platforms."

Recent figures released by the company for September placed Google with a unique audience figure in the US of 118,003 followed by 117,677 new users for Microsoft.
