Search engine optimisation may see great benefits from social media campaigns, according to MarketingSherpa.
The website reports the case of Sticker Giant, a US company that sells customisable stickers and saw its search rankings improve significantly after deploying a wide-ranging social media strategy.
It used a blog to address the passions of its customers by detailing how people who bought the company’s stickers used them to support a particular interest or cause.
Sticker Giant also emailed videos to customers promoting new and existing products, took part in relevant Twitter conversations and interacted with online communities on a range of websites.
John Fischer, owner of the company, said: "Our increase in search rankings is because we are interacting with people more.
"When you do that, they’re going to blog about you, Tweet about you, talk about you in their Facebook profiles."
There are more than 580.5 million users of social networking sites around the world, according to comScore.
