Effectively written and distributed press releases are becoming a popular form of internet marketing, press release distribution firm PRNewsChannel.com has asserted.

Glen Selig, founder of he firm, said that when used correctly, press releases can be "superb" online marketing tools.

He explained that as more and more people are turning to the internet to search for information, an increasing number of businesses are focusing their marketing budgets online.

"When the press releases are search engine optimized for certain key words and phrases and consumers search online for those keywords, boom! Your company press release will pop up and you’ve zeroed in on your target customer or client," Mr Selig said.

However, he added that writing press releases is not a magic formula and that distribution and the use of key words and phrases are important to consider before embarking on this type of marketing campaign.

Meanwhile, new press release firm PRorbit.com, which launched on New Year’s Day, claims that press releases are an "incredibly powerful" way to market offline and online businesses.
