Companies looking to take advantage of the Easter season to boost their sales should launch targeted internet and pay per click marketing campaigns, it has been claimed.

According to Yahoo! content quality analyst Noah Belson, firms selling Easter-related products and services need to shout about it.

Writing on the Yahoo! Search Marketing blog, he said they should create unique advertising campaigns that are linked to highly specific Easter keywords.

"Advertisers looking to cash in on this biggest of spring holidays are better off using unique campaigns with unique ads, rather than trying to make their existing ads accommodate holiday keywords," Mr Belson explained.

He said using appealing words such as "delicious" and "low price" in ad copy can encourage consumers to click through to a website, while relevant landing pages that display the Easter-related products being offered will keep them there.

According to the Internet Advertising Bureau, £1 of every £5 spent on marketing is now spent on the web.
