Following the launch of Google Search Options, companies developing search engine optimisation (SEO) strategies and internet marketing campaigns have more to consider than just keywords in web text and ads.

This is the view of Chris Crum from the WebProNews team, who claims there are a number of ways that firms can exploit the new feature and make it work to their advantage as well as the consumer’s.

He said Google Search Options allows web users to refine their searches by filtering out irrelevant results. They can search exclusively for videos, forums and reviews, allowing them to find what they are looking for more easily.

For web marketers, this means having a finger in every pie in order to expand their company’s online presence and make sure customers can find them wherever they are looking.

Optimising videos with relevant keywords is perhaps one of the most important steps to take, as sorting by videos is the top option in Google Search Options after the default all results search, says Mr Crum.

However, companies should also involve themselves in other areas by participating in forums and including customer reviews on their websites, he adds.

Google launched Search Options earlier this month at its second Searchology event.
