A list of guidelines, aimed at digital marketers, as to how best to use Twitter has been produced by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB).
Following the release of an inter-departmental document sent by the government to employees to encourage them to tweet – which came to the equivalent of 250 messages on the site – the IAB decided to issue its own, somewhat shorter, checklist for internet marketers.
Of the 20 tips, guidance on being clear on strategies when using the site and establishing a tone of voice for the brand were included.
The IAB also advised against employing popular trending topics as a means of boosting comment from other users, although it did stress the importance of remaining current with relevant and insightful updates.
A Game Advertising Council was recently set up – upon industry request – by the organisation in order to educate advertisers about the processes of marketing around video games.
