Video will make its first major impact on the internet marketing services sector next year, the Internet Advertising Bureau has predicted.

Speaking on behalf of the organisation, senior programmes manager Jack Wallington stated that there is a huge buzz around video at the moment and this has grown over the last two years.

And despite the fact that a number of problems still need to be solved with this type of media, he expects it will start to emerge as a force in the near future.

"I predict … that 2010 will be the year that online video makes its mark on the advertising world," Mr Wallington remarked.

He explained that he has spoken to several hundred senior marketers about the format and found that every one of them believes it has potential and would like to utilise it.

The number of people watching videos online has increased rapidly over the last few years, with more than ten billion viewed on Google Sites – which includes YouTube – for the first time ever during August, according to comScore figures for the US.
