Marketing specialists should focus more on the mobile internet as some still remain blind to the opportunities it provides, according to Tim Dunn, head of marketing services at MIG.

"The interest in the iPhone has changed this to a degree, but mobile is by no means a fixture on the communications planning schedules of all campaigns," he was quoted as saying by Utalkmarketing.com.

Mr Dunn added that those in the online marketing services industry have a lot to learn regarding consumers’ usage of mobile technologies, but those who moved boldly would scoop great opportunities.

His comments emerged as a study revealed that access via mobiles is set to dominate in 2010.

From next year, the number of broadband connections in the UK will hit 42.7 million, which is slightly higher than the previously predicted figure of 42.5 million fixed-line users, according to a study conducted by mobileSQUARED.

The report also showed that between one and ten per cent of internet traffic is driven from a mobile device.
