Social Media Marketing - Tips and TricksThe more people you follow, the more will follow you. However, you don’t just want random people following you so you need to find people who will be of benefit to you. Here are a few ways to find those people.

  • Think of all the companies or businesses who are your prospective clients. Follow them if they are on Twitter. If they aren’t on Twitter already, why not invite them?
  • Search for keywords related to your industry and look for active discussions around those topics using trendistic.com. Click on the peaks in the graph to see who was actively participating and follow them.
  • If your potential customers are geographically based, use trendsmap.com to see what is popular in your region right now and who is talking about it
  • Every Friday, watch your followers to see who they mention during FollowFriday – look for the tags #ff and #followfriday
  • Keep an eye on the trade press (on and offline) for upcoming events in your industry sector. Many conferences and exhibitions now have their own channel (indicated by a hashtag #) and often arrange tweetups (meetings) for those on Twitter who want to network. These hashtags and tweetups give you an ideal opportunity to find people who are involved in your sector.

Hopefully these tips will help you to start to build a more effective social media marketing strategy.
