Google is the most popular choice among web users conducting a search in the US, new figures have revealed.

The data from Experian shows 71.43 per cent of people chose the search engine, which could mean it is also favoured by those conducting search engine optimisation campaigns.

This is compared to last month's figures, when Google claimed 71.65 per cent of all searches in the US.

Google beat Yahoo! Search to the top spot, as the company came in second place with 14.43 per cent of all searches.

Bing and Ask were the next most popular engines, achieving 9.86 per cent and 2.32 per cent of all searches respectively.

This comes after comScore released its monthly qSearch analysis of the US search marketplace, revealing Google sites to have a 65.8 per cent market share.

Yahoo! and Microsoft sites followed in second and third place respectively, keeping to the same trends as the Experian results.
