Search engine optimisation specialists looking to expand into social media may be interested in the news that Bing has completed the integration of Facebook into its search results.

On the site's official blog, group program manager Paul Yiu announced the service was now fully implemented on the search engine and had seen several changes based on the feedback of early users.

He said Facebook accounts that were set up to share information with friends would now appear on profile searches performed in Bing.

This would happen "even if you have selected not to have profile information show up in public search engines", Mr Yiu said, but he went on to stress customers could still control the features and turn them off.

The updates would help to make searching in Bing "more social, more personal and more useful", he continued.

Microsoft's share of the market has slipped recently, with the latest figures from monitoring agency comScore showing it lost 0.3 per cent of market share in September, although the number of searches performed did increase by three per cent.
