The latest addition to Google's search engine results pages has been announced by the company – a graphic overview of a webpage that highlights relevant information.

The organisation revealed the Instant Preview feature on its corporate blog, stating users would be able to quickly compare results and find the exact content for which they are looking.

Search engine optimisation companies may be interested in these elements as a new way of highlighting their keywords to searchers.

Raj Krishnan, Google's product manager, said it would "provide new ways to evaluate search results, making you more likely to find what you're looking for on the pages you visit".

According to the firm, testing has shown a five per cent improvement in people's happiness with the results they choose to click on.

Evaluating the new tool for Search Engine Land, Danny Sullivan called the Instant Previews a "nice addition" that should help users of the site more easily decide whether or not a webpage is worth visiting.
