Businesses looking to expand their pay per click (PPC) services can now offer display ads that will appear at the top of Google Images search results.
According to the company, the new feature will provide AdWords clients with a "great opportunity to reach customers with engaging ads" that could promote brand awareness as well as drive sales.
Marketers looking to take advantage of the tool can either upload their own display picture to be shown on search results or create one with the help of the firm's specialised display ad builder.
The visual features work in much the same way as text advertisements using the AdWords platform and can be configured for specific search terms using either a standard PPC model or a cost per thousands strategy.
A recent report by comScore revealed the use of display marketing is on the increase, with the average internet user in the US seeing over 6,000 visual ads in the third quarter of this year.
