Adam Stokes joined us as a content writer in March 2015. Here, he talks to us about his love of creating flash fiction, the challenges of writing across many brands, and how he’d like to get into the head of Quentin Tarantino.

What does your role at ClickThrough involve?

My role at ClickThrough as a content writer, as expected, involves a lot of writing. Industry news articles, blog posts, product descriptions, web pages, and an outreach script here and there make up the most part. Other duties include optimising content, proofreading and various forms of research.

What’s your background?

My background in writing really started with my degree in Creative Writing with English Literature from the University of Chester, where I had the chance to write poetry, prose and dramatic writing – eventually writing a screenplay for my final year piece. While there I also had three pieces of flash fiction published in a creative writing magazine, and then continued to build a portfolio of freelance blog posts, articles and product descriptions once leaving university. One six-month stint as a content writer and editor for a website later and here I am!

What attracted you to this role?

Having undertaken experience within an agency before, I knew this was where I was going to thrive. Finding a vacancy on the ClickThrough website and learning of their reputation, I considered the opportunity to start working on a wide range of live clients and mediums of copy the perfect way to advance and develop in the industry.

What do you most enjoy about your role at ClickThrough?

The most enjoyable trait of working as a content writer here is variation. You can be working on household products and industrial storage one day, to electric cars and holiday villas the next. Not only does each brand bring a new product, with it comes a new style and tone to grasp.

What do you hope to achieve during your time at ClickThrough?

I hope to significantly build my portfolio of clients and copy mediums while at ClickThrough, something I have already extensively improved on having only been here for three months. Being able to present versatility and range in skill as a copywriter is essential, and I would like to have a hand in any and all types of content that we produce.

Finally, if you could trade places with any other person for a week, dead or alive, fictional or real, who would it be?

A tough one, but I’d have to go for Quentin Tarantino. A chance to get in the mind of a successful writer and director who created the likes of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction really couldn’t be one I could pass up. I am pretty sure I would benefit from witnessing the creativity and processes he goes through once the week was up and I was back to my normal self, too.
