Internet marketing services providers may be interested in the news that Google has ended 2010 by increasing its share of the US search engine market by 0.4 percentage points.
Statistics for December compiled by comScore show that Yahoo! lost ground by the same amount during the month, while Bing recorded a gain of 0.2 percentage points for explicit core search.
Yahoo! also saw its share of total core search decrease by half a percentage point, whereas Bing gained 0.7 percentage points to control 12 per cent of the total search market.
Google remained static at 64.3 per cent of total search, unchanged from November.
It was recently stated by Search Engine Watch's Adam Audette that Bing would continue to grow market share through 2011, leading him to suggest marketers should develop a tailored strategy to exploit the service.
The total number of searches recorded in the US also went up by three percentage points, rising from 17.75 billion in November to 18.22 billion last month, with Google conducting 11.7 billion of these.
