Internet marketing services providers utilising social media platforms may be interested in the news that Facebook has made some changes in order to make using the site as a promotional tool a little easier.

Exploring the new features for Econsultancy, Matt Owen observed that the site has "finally listened to marketers" and allowed brands to access some of the features regular users have.

This includes the ability to add comments and interact with other pages as a brand rather than a person, meaning a company can appear more like an individual.

Mr Owen noted: "In social it's really important to give your brand a face and this feature will really let you inject some personality and interact more easily with friends, affiliates (and, dare I say it – competitors)."

He noted that the improvements could give firms a far better ability to spread their brand and provide a more targeted user experience through the platform.

Recently, it was suggested by the Wall Street Journal that Facebook is one of the companies interested in acquiring Twitter, which is valued at around $8-10 billion (£5-6.25 billion).
