Google has rolled out a new update to its Panda system, Panda 2.2.
Panda aims to solve the problem of ‘content farms’ polluting search results. These are sites which reproduce content from elsewhere on the net to falsify their search rankings.
The Panda update had been scheduled for some time and was confirmed by Google to have gone out on June 16.
It is set to make changes to search engine marketing to ensure websites are above aboard.
However, the previous Panda update in April caused a stir – when some companies claimed their sites had been “deliberately” downgraded by Google. Google refuted the allegations.
Panda 2.2 will definitely mean changes to search engine rankings – with those who have used proper SEO techniques likely to be unaffected.
