A chief information officer for Facebook has urged brands, using the site in their social media marketing strategies, to adopt better social CRM (customer relations management).
According to a report on marketingmagazine.co.uk, Tim Campos made the speech at the Social Media Marketing and iCommerce Summit, Monte Carlo.
Interestingly, he revealed that a staggering 30 billion pieces of content were uploaded to the social networking site on a monthly basis.
With 10,000 new companies said to integrate their brand with Facebook every day, Campos pointed towards research showing that half of Americans received their intake of news from friends as a potential area to tap into.
He said: “Social CRM is the ultimate opportunity for marketing and IT to come together to transform business”, adding that the social graph was “the way we gain trust” amongst consumers.
Campos’ speech followed CEO for MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor, warning that a gap still remained between brands and individuals when it came to connecting via social networks.
