He is the mastermind behind Microsoft and Windows, as well as being one of the richest men in the world, but is seems Bill Gates could still use some advice on harnessing search engine optimisation (SEO) to boost the online profile of his official blog.
Danny Sullivan, editor-in-chief of Search Engine Land, said a recent search for 'Bill Gates blog' on Google ranked the billionaire's blog fourth in its top ten - outranked in one case by a parody blog.
To make matters worse, the official blog does not show up at all for the same query on Microsoft's own search engine, Bing. Not exactly an online PR masterstroke.
Mr Sullivan said one of the most important factors behind climbing search engine rankings is controlling the title tags of pages, yet every page of Mr Gates's blog has the same title, even though they cover different topics.
"This is the same as publishing a bunch of different books, on different topics, but giving them all the same title," Mr Sullivan wrote.
Mr Gates seems to have taken note, Tweeting that the boffins behind the blog "are on this now".
