Freeview to launch inaugural online ad campaign Free-to-air digital service Freeview will launch its first online advertising campaign next month, it has emerged.

In support of the service's digital TV recorder Freeview Playback, the campaign will begin on Monday June 11th, reports Marketing News.

Advertising will come in the form of banners, skyscrapers and listings page sponsorships, and will appear on sites such as lastminute.co.uk and timeout.com/london.

Additionally, press advertising and TV-listing page sponsorship will help the company's message reach around 3.5 million people in London, the publication indicates.

Consumer leaflets and national flyers will also accompany the online and print media marketing.

Freeview announced earlier this year that Christmas 2006 was its best festive period ever, as it sold more than two million digital boxes and digital televisions during the final quarter of the year.

Moreover, digital TV recorder sales doubled year-on-year, according to the figures.
