Google dominates April search queries The majority of search engine queries made in April were carried out through Google, according to new figures.

Statistics published by comScore reveal that 74.2 per cent of searches made in the UK during the month were undertaken via Google, search engine marketing executives may be interested to read.

About 4.1 billion search queries were made in total throughout April, with eBay (six per cent), Yahoo! (4.3 per cent), Microsoft (3.4 per cent) and Ask (2.7 per cent) following Google in the comScore rankings.

Social networking sites Facebook, Rightmove and Bebo.com also appeared in the top ten.

According to comScore, some 31 million internet users conducted an online search in April, with an average of 130 queries per searcher detected.

This week, comScore also released data revealing that Google was the most popular web property among German internet users in April, followed by sites owned by the likes of eBay, Microsoft, AOL and United-Internet.
