Google ventures further into the mobile market Google has revealed it has a few tricks up its sleeve for use with the Apple iPhone, according to CNet news.

The site reported that Marissa Mayer, the search engine's vice president of search products and user experience, demonstrated the use of applications such as Google Maps on Apple's latest device.

During her keynote speech at the Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose last week Ms Mayer revealed how Google's free voice-activated Goog 411 could locate businesses and services and then provide the iPhone user with a map.

Ms Mayer also revealed that Google's mobile phone applications were doing well stating that this was the first year that services had increased during summer.

"You could see people almost switching off their computers and switching on their handhelds," she said.

During the second day of the conference, Ask.com's Jim Lanzone outlined some of their current developments such as the Ask 3D interface, according to Lisa Barone of internet consultancy Bruce Clay.
