Executives in the hotel industry of the US will focus on internet marketing this year as they look to muscle in on the online travel sector, a new survey has revealed.
Almost seven out of ten (68 per cent) respondents told Hospitality eBusiness Strategies (HeBS) that online marketing will be their main priority in 2007, while almost three-quarters (71.9 per cent) expect website optimisation to generate the largest returns on the investment.
Combining search engine optimisation (SEO) with organic search is expected to bring the highest yield by 68.3 per cent of hospitality executives. A further 62.9 per cent will look to redesigning their website in a bid to increase their online presence.
Concluding, HeBS said the results suggest "stronger emphasis on the search engines where the focus will likely be placed on optimisation techniques (both website and search engine optimisation)".
The survey follows HeBS' Top Ten Internet Marketing Resolutions checklist for hoteliers in 2007, in which it recommended executives make the coming months the 'Year of Mastering Internet Marketing'.
