Internet marketing: Google search numbers increase over one year, according to study Searches on Google have increased almost 21 per cent (20.8 per cent) over the year up to September.

The rise has now put the website at a 59.7 per cent share of searches, recording approximately 4.8 billion in total over the same period.

Yahoo!'s facility came below the search engine on searches, growth and share, recording around 1.4 billion, 1.5 per cent and 18.1 per cent, respectively.

A number of companies in the Nielsen online study have also had negative growth over the year to September, with Dogpile Search recording -5.3 per cent, Comcast Search at -13.1 per cent and NexTag Search seeing the most at -29.3 per cent.

Conversely, AT&T Worldnet Search managed the largest rise in year-on-year growth, achieving 237.7 per cent.

Google's growth in numbers comes at the same time as it, along with Yahoo! and Microsoft are set to sign a global code of conduct.

The code will enable the search engines to tackle and avoid criticism with issues such as China's rules upon freedom of speech.
