Internet marketing: Google upgrades toolbar for news use Google has upgraded its News Toolbar gadget, according to a blog by its associate product marketing manager.

Hicham Alaoui said that the launch is in celebration of the recently-released Google Toolbar 5 for Internet Explorer, along with the company's eighth birthday.

Search engine optimisation businesses may also be interested to know that users are set to be able to find tabs with different news sections embedded directly into the toolbar.

Mr Alaoui added that visitors will be able to read the news as soon as it breaks - along with browsing top news headlines and images - without leaving the current webpage.

He said: "You can read the news as soon as it breaks, browse top news headlines and images, all without having to leave the site you're on."

The news comes as Mozilla release its Firefox 3.1 beta 1 browser, which is based on the Gecko 1.9.1 rendering engine.
