Microsoft boosts Live Search options New content and enhancements will help Microsoft (MS) beat Google at the search game, the corporation says.

Assisted by search engine optimisation, users of Live Search will be able to search more online images and get more choice of content for celebrity news and from online book resources.

MS says image searches will be faster because all the images will download to the same page, bypassing the need to click on Next Page to see more.

With more internet users becoming interested in the video capabilities of the net, MS has also introduced a video search to browse and share videos.

Another enhancement is the development of an integrated mapping system via Multimap and a feature available via mobile to find local information such as cinemas and restaurants.

MS is currently attempting to purchase rival Yahoo! and has raised its bid to $33 (about £17) a share, though Yahoo!'s shareholders have indicated they will accept something in the region of $35 or £37 a share.
