One in ten web users 'will translate content' Ten per cent of adults in the US have accessed overseas content and translated it into English, according to new data from JupiterResearch.

Analysts found that there is a growing trend for web users who are interested in online information to view content generated abroad.

The results of a new study, Demographic Profile: Understanding the US Globaphile 2007, will examine the impact of the group, nicknamed globaphiles, defined as being young, urban and male.

Zia Daniell Wigder, who will be leading the study, suggested that this group was important to internet marketing "because they are avid consumers - and influencers - of media".

"Globaphiles consume far more books, DVDs and CDs than the average online user - they're also more likely to access most news sources," she added.

She went on to explain that their consumption of mass media led to influence, as globaphiles are more likely to impact on trends in the consumption of electronics, movie and music.

In related news, JupiterResearch recently found that 80 per cent of internet marketing practitioners aim to increase their return on investment in the coming months.
