Increasing proportions of marketing budgets were spent on internet marketing last year, according to new research.
A study carried out by the Online Marketing Show (OMS) found that about 20 per cent of respondents spend more than 50 per cent of their total budget on online marketing - a figure that has doubled when compared to the previous year's statistics.
OMS also predicted that website marketing budgets will increase by 25 per cent over the course of the next year.
Commenting on the research Sally Pugmire, the event director for Online Marketing 2007, said: "Marketers are taking areas such as social media, online PR, SEO [search engine optimisation] and paid search very seriously when considering their budgets.
The study also shows that 61 per cent of people surveyed felt that online marketing provides "the most accountable return" on investments, when compared to alternative marketing technique.
However, OMS did discover that two-fifths of respondents said the integration of offline and online marketing was troublesome.
The show, which will take place in Islington, London, will see exhibitors from a range of online marketing backgrounds including search engine optimisation, mobile marketing and podcasting.
