Search engine optimisation (SEO) has helped one major travel firm to attract more online visitors.
According to Travolution, Orbitz Worldwide has reported an increase in internet traffic to its network sites as a direct result of a new SEO strategy.
This strategy involves the use of a new SEO-enabled global platform that its member sites are migrating to.
Orbitz chief executive Steve Barnhart stated: "Where we've rolled our new platform out in Europe, we are seeing good improvement in traffic from SEO."
Hotel brands may also want to take note of research published by comScore earlier this year indicating that an increasing number of internet users are booking rooms through supplier websites, rather than travel agencies.
The company suggested this may be due to a gradual shift towards budget hotel brands as the credit crunch continues to impact on consumers' finances.
