Pay-per-click advertising Pay-per-click online advertising has been experiencing sustained growth, it has been reported.

Despite fears of economic recession taking its toll on the advertising and marketing sector, paid-for-search and pay-per-click search engine websites such as Google and Yahoo have been "growing exponentially" according to Investors Chronicle.

It highlights that search advertising is forecast to make up 65 per cent of all internet advertising revenue for 2008 - an increase of two per cent on 2007.

Indeed by 2013, some suggest that pay-per-click could comprise of 30 per cent of the total adspend in the UK at some £5 billion.

The growth of pay-per-click and search-based advertising has been identified as the main driver behind the blossoming online advertising sector.

"The main force in internet growth - and therefore in UK advertising growth - is search," states WPP's media buying and planning subsidiary Group M.

Meanwhile, Straight Up Search has advised that the key to creating successful pay-per-click campaigns is the ability to think like the average web user.
