Report: Children watch more online videos than adults A new study has established that children watch more online videos than adults.

The study by Nielsen Online, an online market research firm, revealed that children view more online videos from home and tend to lean towards sites offering things they would still be interested in when not browsing the internet.

Some of the sites include those of toymakers and sites linked to children's programming.

Explaining the trend, Michael Pond, senior media analyst at Nielsen Online, said: "The web provides another platform for their interest in TV shows, toys, movies and music and offers an interactive element that children especially enjoy."

Teenagers, on the other hand, prefer going online for music videos, movie trailers and clips downloaded by other users.

Among this group, Stickam, a free multimedia site that allows uploading images and videos, was the most popular for online video in April.

Similar research revealed this year showed that US internet users viewed 11.5 billion online videos in March alone, with an average of 83 videos per viewer.
