Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a long-term strategy and not a quick fix, one expert has suggested this week.
According to SEO specialist Steve Haar, many companies see making improvements to their site as a way to make quick and effective changes to failing sites.
However, he states that this is a mistake and that businesses must understand that they have to make resources available and that SEO is not a "one-time hit".
"SEO can take time to generate results depending on your starting point," he said.
He added that companies should be prepared to wait to see the effects of a good campaign as often "You may not see your sales increase right away".
