SEO 'cost and business-effective' Any online marketing strategy should be headed by a strong search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign, one blogger has suggested.

According to industry expert Derek Gehl, companies looking to make the most out of their online presence should have a strong approach to SEO as this can make all the difference and is often be the most cost-effective techniques.

In a blog for Promotion World, Mr Gehl cites a report from Marketing Sherpa which revealed that 63 per cent of regular search engine users in the US look only look results on the first page.

"To make SEO work for you, it's important to pay close attention to how search engine spiders index or list web sites and then use that information to direct the way you want the search engines to index your web site," he said.

Recent figures from Hitwise indicate that Google remains the top choice for surfers recording over 65 per cent of online searches in January.
