SEO market 'is as healthy as ever' The search engine optimisation (SEO) and online marketing sectors are as healthy as ever, according to a new survey.

Research published last week by search marketing information, training and events website e-consultancy, projected that UK spending for SEO will increase by 58 per cent this year to £2.22 billion.

The website points out that the figure, although down from the growth rate of 2006, is indicative of healthy potential for expansion in the future.

In its annual study, the Search Engine Marketing Buyer's Guide also found that organic search spending was also set to grow by 68 per cent to an estimated £252 million.

The guide offers the details of 29 search agencies and their specialities, and suggests things to look out for when introducing and implementing good SEO practice.

The figures in the report include payments to internet marketing and search marketing agencies as well as paid investment in staff introducing and managing SEO.

Earlier this month industry expert Joel Carlson wrote on answersite.com that it was often client expectations that proved the biggest challenge for SEO companies.
