User content grows Online user-generated content is continuing to grow, as worldwide revenue from user-generated video is set to top $1.1 billion (£563 million), a new report claims.

Research from In-Stat claims that user-generated video will lead the way as internet marketing advertising revenue from such content grows at a "surprising rate", BizReport said.

It adds that there will be growth in developing areas like China, which is forecast to be second only to the US in terms of user-generated video, as more consumers use high definition equipment together with increased bandwidth and higher file sizes.

Forecasts claim that around 160 billion videos will be served by 2012, with mobile phone users likely to contribute revenue and content in this way.

In August 2006, Brand Republic claimed that user-generated content is driving the next stage in the progress of the internet, offering marketing opportunities for online marketing agencies and brands.
