Yahoo! adds quality based ranking to search marketing Yahoo! search marketing has announced its official arrival date for the anticipated quality-based ranking system.

According to Yahoo's search marketing site the current ranking model for sponsored search ad positions in search results is determined by bid amount.

The new system allows for both quality and bid amount to influence the positioning.

Yahoo! states that in order to take advantage of this new platform and its features, customers should improve ad quality indexes now as ads with higher quality will deliver more site clicks and help achieve higher conversion when the system launches.

PPC Blog writes that the date of the new release is set for the July 23rd and that the algorithm has been undergoing recent tests at Yahoo!

According to a statement issued by Yahoo!, it is hoped the new method will allow customers to "focus less on competitive bidding practices and more on the quality of your ads."

The Yahoo! search marketing blog also wrote recently that it had been upgraded to better serve the running of multiple marketing features, with a new move and copy feature which allows advertisers to transfer keywords from one ad group to another.
