Yahoo! 'not to outsource SEM' Yahoo! is not to outsource its search engine marketing (SEM) business, a report has suggested.

The company has been reviewing its online marketing operations, but an article in the Wall Street Journal suggests that any major overhaul of operations seems "unlikely".

According to Search Engine Land, a number of investors in Yahoo! are calling for the company to outsource its search engine marketing business to either Google or Microsoft, but this move has apparently been turned down by the firm.

Following the appointment of new chief executive Jerry Yang in June of this year, the company began a review of its operations in order to allow it to compete with the likes of Google in the online advertising market sector, the Wall Street Journal reports.

However, sources close to the company have suggested that any major overhaul of the company's operations seems "unlikely", the magazine claims.

The article also suggests that the lack of such changes could be a frustration to investors.
