Not content with simply waiting for an invitation to participate in Google+’s launch, Ford Motor Company has taken the forthright step of setting up a hacked brand page on the newly launched social network, according to a report on

Google are said to be thrilled at Ford’s eagerness to further their social media marketing efforts.

In an interview with Ad Age, Lead product manager for social advertising at Google, Christian Oestlien said: “We’re positively overwhelmed by how quickly Ford has become involved with the project.”

Quick to praise the innovation of the Ford page, Oestlien added: “They’re doing some incredibly cool stuff like the “hangout” they’re doing this afternoon with their customers. It’s the kind of stuff we’re looking to test.”

As a response to the hacked brand pages, set up by not only Ford but also Dell, Google launched an application process whereby businesses can apply to take part in the initial testing of the social network

Companies who have their application approved are said to be able to commence page testing at the end of this month (July).
