How to Check Referrers

Definition

Referrers are the sites who refer visitors to your site. It is useful to measure this as it helps to know why people are coming to your site, so you can adapt your site to their needs. It is also used for tracking online marketing campaigns to measure their effectiveness.

Web Analytics

There are two ways to check for referrers. Firstly, you could manually go through your server log files and note down the referrers, and the number of referrals. Or, you could use a web analytics package.

You may already have a basic Web Analytics package as part of your hosting package which should be able to tell you which sites are referring visitors, and generally how many they refer.

ClickThrough also offer a web analytics package which provides multiple levels of reporting to suit the small business to the large enterprise.

We also offer a Web Analytics service which combines our web analytics package with ClickThrough’s knowledge and experience to work to make a more effective website for your business.
