Bing’s share of the US search market has risen, according to research by a web analytics firm.
Figures from Statcounter’s latest survey indicate that Bing has increased its market share by over one per cent, from 8.23 per cent in June to 9.41 per cent in July.
Although Google remains in prominent position with 77.54 per cent, the partnership between Microsoft and Yahoo meant that together they took 20.36 per cent of the market in July, up from 19.27 per cent in June.
Chief executive and founder of Statcounter, Aodhan Cullen, commented on Bing’s "slow but steady progress", stating that the recent collaboration between the two companies in search engine marketing services will "have to demonstrate major future synergies if it is to make any dent in Google’s dominance".
Aimed at websites with fewer than 250,000 monthly pageloads, Statcounter provides a free service designed to offer detailed analysis and lifetime summary statistics as well as a variety of tools such as a configurable counter and user access management.
