People involved in search engine optimisation may be interested in a list compiled by Google concerning the fastest-rising search terms in the US.
In a sneak preview of its end-of-year Zeitgeist, the search engine provider revealed that ‘obama’ came top of the list.
The figures were compiled by Google after it combed through billions of anonymous, aggregated search queries and recorded emerging trends exhibited by internet users in the country.
‘Facebook’ and ‘att’ were the second and third fastest-rising terms respectively, while ‘iphone’ and ‘youtube’ rounded off the top five.
Also featuring in the list were ‘fox news’, ‘palin’, ‘beijing 2008’, ‘david cook’ and ‘surf the channel’.
The full 2008 Zeitgeist is due to be released by Google next week.
In other industry news, Mihaela Vorvoreanu, assistant professor of communication studies at Clemston University, recently noted that direct marketers are progressively using more news releases for SEO purposes, BtoB magazine reported.
