As Google moves to launch its new social network, Google+, an article on searchenginejournal.com has speculated the effects that the new tool could have on SEO and Internet marketing.
While incorporating all of the typical features found on other social networks – such as Twitter-style postings – the most distinguished new feature is Google+’s circles, which allows communication with business and social contacts to be kept entirely separate.
SEJ predicts that the feature will work well for marketing purposes, as users will be treated more as individuals rather than consumers.
From an SEO standpoint, the inclusion of Sparks, – regularly updated streams of search results that relate specifically to a users’ interests – means the potential opportunities for link-building should be watched with great interest.
Tests have shown that the content generated by Sparks differs from that of the traditional Google search.
Google are also said to be moving to produce a Google+ brand-centered platform that could revolutionise the business experience that is currently offered by consumer profiles on other social networking platforms.
