Those involved in internet marketing should take heed of the growing demand for how-to video content from web users, it has been claimed.

With many more consumers turning to community websites for information and recommendations about content, online videos are the new way to obtain information and advice, according to Nancy Cruickshank, global chief executive of VideoJug.

Ms Cruickshank described online videos as "a seriously hot growth area online" and advised those considering adding content to their websites to "pay attention to search engine optimisation", because VideoJug’s clips would soon become searchable.

She stated: "In the UK, people are watching in the region of ten billion minutes of online video every month and are consequently creating an enormous demand for video online."

It is estimated that by 2013 over one billion users will watch videos online, due to the increasing speeds of broadband available to a wider network of people, according to ABI Research.
