Yahoo! has started to redirect people in the UK away from its Yahoo.com site to the UK version instead.

Search Engine Land notes that the firm has made the change, bringing it more in line with Google’s policy.

And indeed both the major search engines skew results to favour the pages that they believe UK users will want to see, the search news site claims.

In fact, although there are options to use the .com versions of the search engines, results will still be skewed in favour of UK users, the news site claims.

Meanwhile, Live Search from Microsoft is set to launch a new Live Worldwide page that will allow users to search from all countries as well as from their home country, the news provider claims.

In related news, Yahoo’s new SearchMonkey tool is now open and available to everyone, the company has today announced.
