Yahoo! and Microsoft aim to have paid search advertisers in the US and Canada transferred to adCenter by the end of 2010 under their new alliance, it has been confirmed.
A post on the Yahoo! Search Marketing Blog said that from late summer, users of its pay per click services will be offered "a window of several weeks" during which they can choose a time to carry out their transition.
Any funds remaining in their Sponsored Search account will automatically switch over to adCenter or be refunded once all marketing messages are being served by the Microsoft system, it added.
The company noted that in the meantime, companies can continue to manage their Yahoo! account as normal and there is no need for them to open a separate adCenter service.
Yahoo! and Microsoft received clearance for their Search Alliance deal from regulators in the US and the European Union in February.
Under the deal, Sponsored Search will be decommissioned and pay per click ads will be served via a single platform targeting both Bing and Yahoo! traffic.
International advertisers are expected to be transferred to the Search Alliance system by early 2012.
